Deed Of Trust Divorce

Question: Please help about divorce papers filed in PA.?

So, over a month ago my husband finally filed the divorce papers. And in the certified letter they sent it advised me to get a lawyer to ensure property was fairly devided or whatnot. I don't want to pay a lawyer because I'm not overly worried about property, the only thing we have between us now is the deed and equity on a house and I do trust him to be fairly responsible in that. So what I want to know now is if no one contests and nothing more happens when will I be divorced? Also, it would be fair to ask that if I don't get a lawyer will it be possible for his lawyer to just do the agreement on the house? I just thank anyone who has any helpful answers about the proceedings of divorce in PA.

Answer: Ok. Every state is different about who pays for the legal cost. In PA, I found that you can ask the courts to make your ex pay for your lawyer, but he is not obligated to, even if he has his own.
If he has contacted an retained an lawyer, best to go ahead and get one yourself or even contact an paralegal and pay them to look over your papers to make sure he is not trying to slide something over on you. My retainer was $10k, but worth it. We fought over everything from the the house to the forks. If you two are getting along and just want it to be civil, still get an divorce lawyer or paralegal to go over the paper work for a smaller fee.
